Software Point of Interaction (SoftPOI) or SoftPoS technology allows merchants to accept card payments directly on their phone or devices without the need for any additional software. An mPOS (mobile point-of-sale) is a smart device (phone, tablet or dedicated wireless device) that performs the functions of a cash register or electronic point-of-sale terminal (POS terminal) wirelessly. Unlike the SoftPOS solutions, this class of system consist of a card reader that is paired with your smart device either wirelessly or physically, allowing payment outside of bricks and mortar stores.

Card transactions can include, credit card, gift card, prepaid cards, white-labelled cards and even debit cards. The key differentiator for these systems, is that the software solution allows merchants to transform their smart device into a payments terminal with no extra hardware.
